REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 17, 2007

The regular monthly meeting of the Sugar Camp Town Board will be held on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sugar Camp Town Hall.

1. Meeting called to order by the Town Chairman.
Present:

Chairman Scott Holewinski
Supervisor Otto Schoeneck
Supervisor Paul Sowinski There were 8 visitors
Clerk John Bigley
Treasurer Lisa Jolin
Foreman Kortenhof

2. Verification of Agenda posting and approval of Agenda. Discussion & action
The agenda was posted at the Town Hall, Sugar Camp Enterprises, Lilly Bass Road and Hwy H. by 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 207.
Motion: Schoeneck/ Sowinski… to approve the agenda. Carried

3. Approval of the minutes from the last regular monthly meeting and any special meetings not previously approved. Discussion & action
Motion: Schoeneck / Sowinski … to accept the Regular Meeting Minutes of November 20, 2007, as corrected.. Carried

4. Treasurer’s Report. Discussion & action
Motion: Sowinski/ Schonek… to approve the Treasurer’s report with an November 20, 2007, checking and CD account balance of $330,863.90. Carried

5. Approval of vouchers. Discussion & action
Motion: Schoeneck / Sowinski … to approve the vouchers of $77,589.47 as presented. Carried

6. Public Comments: None

7. Correspondences:

  • Chairman Holewinski reported that the Town will receive $25,000 from the TRIP program for 2008.

  • Chairman Holewinski also reported that the cost to purchase a tractor from the Snowmobile Club will be between 25 to 30 thousand dollars.

8. Old Business:

  • Discussions involving future road work on Jennie Webber Lake Road.

Discussion included the following topics: road safety, cutting of trees within 10’ of the road, cutting of tree limbs and general road maintenance. The Town Board will meet with the landowners to review which trees will be cut for the road improvement. Land owners will be notified via e-mail and official postings. The meeting will be set up on a week-end if possible.

  • Review the status of the Application for a Highway to Enclosed Land and the cancelled Public Hearing Discussion only

The request for a Public Hearing was incorrectly worded; therefore no action will be taken until the request is correctly worded and published.

9. New Business:

1. Consideration of a request for a snowmobile trail through the South Dump to Lilly Bass Lake Road to Klingen’s Idlewilde Bar & Campsite Discussion and possible action

This item was resolved prior to the Board Meeting.


2. Appoint poll workers, registration official and Chief Inspector for a two year team beginning January 1, 2008. Discussion and possible action
Motion: Sowinski/ Schoeneck …to appoint Roxanne Schneider as the Chief Voting Inspector, Irene Thorn, Kathleen Peterson, Lou Siedschlag and Nancy Schneider as poll workers and Elaine Thorn as Voter Registration official. Carried

3. Review Policies and Procedures used in renting the classroom located in the Fire Shed. Discussion and possible action
Lisa will prepare a Policies and Procedures document for the January meeting.

4. Review Deferred Compensation and Retirement Options for Town Employees Discussion and possible action
Motion: Schoeneck/Sowinski …to approve the Resolution for the Town of Sugar Camp to join the Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Plan. Carried

5. Review funding for Length of Service Award and Wisconsin Defined Contribution program for Fire Department and EMS personal. Discussion and possible action
Motion: Schoeneck/Sowinski …to use the remaining fund in the Length of Service budget to be distributed equally among the EMT and Fire Department personal in their retirement accounts. Carried

6. Road Work Report: Discussion and possible action
Motion: Schoeneck/Sowinski …to accept the report as presented. Carried

7. Town Hall Report: Discussion and possible action
Motion: Schoeneck/Sowinski …to accept the report as presented. Carried

8. Motion to adjourn
Motion: Schoeneck/Sowinski …to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. Carried.
